A Swiss thing?

I remember going to matches at home, when the speaker announced the players coming onto the pitch...

Home team first: "Number 6, Beni..." - and the whole crowd shouting back his last name: "HUGGEL".

For the guests that was a bit of a different story of course... "Number 1, Stefan..." "ARSCHLOCH" (translation anyone?).

I'm still (slightly) surprised this doesn't happen here. Nope, there's just the speaker reading down the names, some cheering (or booing respectively) and that was that. Is it a Swiss thing, or just a "not english" thing?
